The Burning Bush 2 first reading

The Burning Bush 2 magazine will have its inaugural public reading on Thursday 27 September at the Irish Writers' Centre in Dublin, with Kevin Graham, Patrick Chapman and myself as featured poets. My thanks to BB2 editor Alan Jude Moore for the invitation. Start time is 7.30pm, with an open-mic session for the first 6 people to register on the night preceding the main readings. Admission is free.

Modern Poetry in Translation (No.3 2025)

Two sections from my fifth book It Reeks of Radio , along with their translations into Greek by Despina Pirketti, are featured in the latest issue of the illustrious UK-based magazine Modern Poetry in Translation . The issue, released late November 2025, bears the title 'The Antidote to Agony: Focus on the Poetry of Greece and Cyprus.' Modern Poetry in Translation  was founded in 1965 by Ted Hughes and Daniel Weissbort, and for 60 years it has been publishing "the best new poetry, essays and reviews from around the world." In truth I was somewhat surprised to be invited by guest issue editor, Jessica Sequeira , to feature, as the focus is on translations into English of poetry written in Greek. Transatlantic Poetry Salon at Books Upstairs, Dublin

It's a great pleasure to announce this very special reading at Books Upstairs , Dublin's oldest independent bookshop, taking place on Sunday 13 July 2025. The Transatlantic Poetry Salon features rob mclennan and Christine McNair visiting from Ottawa in Canada, as well as Dublin-based Éireann Lorsung (who will be returning to the US later this summer to take up a permanent position at University of South Dakota, teaching and editing the South Dakota Review)  and myself. Poezija Magazine

A little over a year ago I received a request for permission to have some poems from Spitting Out the Mother Tongue translated into Croatian, which I happily granted. These poems are to be included in an anthology of contemporary European poetry to be published in Zagreb (Croatian Writers Society) in celebration of Croatia's recent entry to the EU. I'm grateful to the redoubtable Damir Šodan for selecting my work for the anthology, and for having a go at translating my poems - I remember him suggesting to me after a reading that he could hear them very clearly in Croatian. And it's great to be joining the likes of Raymond Carver, Allen Ginsberg and Leonard Cohen in having work rendered into Croatian by Damir!
