Poetry in a Digital Age at Dublin Book Festival 2026
On Thursday 5 November I will be reading some new work at 'New Frequencies - Poetry in a Digital Age' for this year's landmark 20th edition of Dublin Book Festival.
Taking place in Belvedere Library on St Patrick's Campus of Dublin City University (DCU), this event sits in the middle of a day-long, four-event programme at the University with title 'Literature in the Digital Age'. DCU is partnering with Dublin Book Festival for the third year running, with the programme, curated by DCU Cultural Arts Officer Marcella Bannon and 2026 DCU/Arts Council Writer in Residence Colin Barrett, aiming to consider "the future of the written word and storytelling in an increasingly digital world."
'New Frequencies - Poetry in a Digital Age' also features Kit Fryatt and Bebe Ashley:
"At this lunchtime event, poets Kit Fryatt, Christodoulos Makris, and Bebe Ashley perform original work responding to our festival theme, Literature and the Digital Age. Discover how technology and the internet is shaping the power of the human voice in contemporary poetry."
We start at 1pm. Admission is free but booking is required.
Meanwhile the evening before, on Wednesday 4 November, I'll be part of a panel discussion with title 'Making a Living as a Writer'. Chaired by author Shane Hegarty and also featuring writer and illustrator Margaret Anne Suggs and novelist Fíona Scarlett, this event is part of the 2026 edition of Fingal Libraries' annual Write Time Festival. It takes place in Blanchardstown Library in north county Dublin with a start time of 6.30pm. Tickets are free and can be booked on the Fingal Libraries Eventbrite page.
