Earlier this month I contributed a performative paper at the international conference 'Poetry's Environments' organised and hosted by  Poetry@Leeds  at The University of Leeds. The conference took place over three days (9-11 June 2026) at Cloth Court Hall in Leeds city centre and the University of Leeds campus. Convened by a team headed by Kimberly Campanello , Professor of Poetry and Director of Poetry@Leeds,  'Poetry's Environments' aimed to "consider poetry that addresses the natural environment and the environments in which poetry is written, experienced, performed, preserved, and studied" by bringing together "international poets, critics, translators, archivists, activists, textual editors, digital specialists, literary professionals, and individuals, groups and organisations involved in poetry and its environments". Last summer I travelled to Stuttgart on an invitation from Dr Jessica Bundschuh of the Department of English Literatures and Cultures at The University of Stuttgart, where over Friday 27 and Saturday 28 June 2025 I led a series of generative poetry workshop sessions in partnership with Cork-based poet Molly Twomey for around 60 participants composed of University students and 5th grade students from Dillmann Gymnasium. The title of our collaborative workshop project was 'The Mediated Self' and it consisted of three individually-led sessions each: mine focusing on sampling, collaborative writing, ekphrasis, collaging, and related poetics. My session 'Find a Pop Icon' in particular, spread over two days, was the source of much discussion, amusement, tumult and creative engagement from the students. On Thursday 28 May I will be at Belfast School of Art in the centre of Belfast where I will deliver a multimedia performance based on my new long poem 'The Ugly Truth'. This performance will take place in the street-facing Glass Box Gallery at 6pm, and it is programmed as part of a two-poet event with title 'Aggregate Inventions', also featuring Máighréad Medbh . I'm excited to announce that this summer I'm piloting a small festival of contemporary poetry and the verbal arts in Dublin: re:verb  is a platform showcasing poetry and verbal art that predominantly strays from the mainstream, and aims to expand the potential of live literature. Its purpose is to offer an outlet and an encouragement for new forms and approaches to the making and presentation of contemporary poetry and literature that privilege liveness and vibrancy. And as a small poetry/verbal arts festival, re:verb  aims to operate on a model that relies on a communal, artist- and audience-centred stake in its workings. The opening eight pages of my new long poem 'Hallucinations' are featured in the third issue of fallow  (spring 2026). fallow is a biannual journal of literature publishing in Dublin, edited by Ian Maleney and Maija Mäkelä. It is produced by Fallow Media , a literary publisher and digital platform founded by Maleney in 2015 to support and promote adventurous, ambitious work from across the artistic spectrum. It is distinguished by an exploratory, international outlook. A couple of weeks ago I recorded a short excerpt from a new long poem of mine called 'Hallucinations' for the December 2025 edition of Jennifer Redmond & Matthew Geden 's monthly hourlong radio show The Expanded Field, broadcasting on éist radio. éist is a Cork-based volunteer-run internet radio collective dedicated to fostering creativity, collaboration, and community engagement through digital radio. In The Expanded Field , "strategies of poetic creation are debated and extended by audio effects. Aesthetic and ethical boundaries are pushed out and beyond the page." 'The Expanded Field - Baa Boo Humbug' was broadcast at 4pm on Wednesday 17 December 2025 as a mix of experimental sounds, music, interview, poetry and live performance. On Friday 21 November 2025 I performed a live hour-long version of Chapter 11: November from my ongoing durational project DIAL , this time in collaboration just with Keith Lindsay on electronics and live radio feedback. The performance took place in The Depot, The Complex Arts Centre’s large warehouse performance space, and it was part of Kirkos' takeover of The Depot Sessions . In a discussion-based oral history of SoundEye Festival (1997-2017) collated by David Toms and published in the special poetry issue of The Stinging Fly  magazine in the summer of 2022 , my absence from the history of the festival as a forum for international experimental poetries in Ireland was noted and remarked upon. I'm happy that this is now being rectified, and that I'll be taking part in the upcoming revival edition, the first since 2017: SoundEye 2025 takes place in over the weekend 4-6 July 2025 with a free schedule of events at University College Cork and Shandon Studios, Cork City. Join us on Thursday 1 May 2025 at the brand new Kirkos venue in central Dublin (1 Little Green Street, Dublin 7) for a 60 minute performance from Chapter 5: May of my durational writing project DIAL , with sonic interventions from Joanna Mattrey , Nick Roth and Keith Lindsay . A live, semi-improvised cross-disciplinary collaboration  featuring spoken text, viola, saxophone, and electronics with live radio feedback & looped sounds. DIAL is a durational-procedural-aleatory work of poetic prose I composed through real-time, automatic transcriptions of spoken language from a different radio station broadcasting anywhere in the world, performed each and every day over the entire calendar year 2021 and linked seamlessly with short pieces of 'original' text I wrote contemporaneously. On Saturday 22 March we will reprise our collaborative performance 'Housing Data ~ Sonified: The Sound and Poetry of Ireland's Housing Data' at Ormston House , a contemporary art gallery in Limerick city centre. This 10-movement composition incorporating my original poem 'Press Play' was created and is performed in collaboration with composer and pianist  David Bremner and violinist Larissa O'Grady . It  premiered on 23 April 2024 at TU Dublin Recital Hall . I had a wonderfully intense time in New York City in the first half of January, facilitated by a formal residency at Irish Arts Center awarded to me through a two-part cross-Atlantic residency programme led by St John's Theatre & Arts Centre, Listowel, Co Kerry. The core component of the residency was an opportunity to work further on my next poetry manuscript using the space and facilities at the Center, located on 11th Avenue, in the Hell's Kitchen neighbourhood in Manhattan, while feeding off the energy, sounds, images and the general tumult, urgency and creativity of New York City. While my time there was short I was able to add some new elements to the manuscript, but more importantly to begin to think of it and start editing in structural, macro terms.
