Succour 9: Fantasies out now

Issue 9 of Succour, entitled Fantasies, is out now.

Succour 9: Fantasies is a collection of new work from some of the most exciting writers based in the UK, Ireland and further afield, who present a range of interpretations of the fantasies theme. Contributors include Órfhlaith Foyle, Laura Joyce, Rob A. Mackenzie, Gregory Norminton, Ray Robinson and Robert Selby.

'Capital' at Irish Museum of Modern Art

On Saturday 5 September I will present a new long poem with title 'Capital' at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA). This is part of a programme of events for The People's Pavilion installation, a public outdoor space located on the museum's front lawn where people can meet safely in specially designed social distancing circles. From the event description: 'Capital' is a polyphonic poem composed of fragments of text from unattributed reviews of establishments on Talbot Street, publicly available on Google Maps. It has its roots in Makris’s longstanding interest in the shifts in language use, communication and identity brought about by digital media, and their implication on poetic discourse. Inflammatory Speech: an Irish Museum of Modern Art commission

In July,  Nathan O'Donnell ,   Suzanne Walsh  and I operating as a collaborative unit received one of three project commissions from the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) to create new work in response to the ROSC 50 exhibition. After a four-month research and composition period, our resulting collaborative text and performance 'Inflammatory Speech' will be presented on  Saturday 11 November at 2pm in The Johnston Suite at IMMA  as part of  an event showcasing the ROSC 50 artist research commissions. Admission is free, but  booking is required  as places are limited : "Audiences are invited to attend a seminar comprising of artists’ performance, lecture presentations, screening and a panel discussion. European Poetry Festival (Ireland) 2024

I'm partnering once again with Kildare County Council Arts and Libraries Service, Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge, Co Kildare, and the European Poetry Festival through its director SJ Fowler, to co-programme my third European Poetry Festival event in Ireland, following editions in 2019 and 2022 .
