Camaradefest

I'm thrilled to be reading at another of Steven Fowler's Camarade events this coming Saturday 26 October. As part of this fifth and by far largest edition - indeed an all-day riot of poetry collaborations - Kimberly Campanello and I will be presenting our concoction during the final session (9pm start). CAMARADEFEST: 100 poets in 50 pairs reading original collaborations

The Camarade poetry festival is a unique one day explosion of dynamic collaboration in contemporary avant garde and literary poetics. 100 poets align in 50 pairs, each writing an original collaborative work, written specifically for the festival and premiered on the day. The 5th Camarade event, and the crescendo of the Enemies project’s first year, this ambitious exploration of the possibilities of collaboration in poetry will evidence the true width and depth of poetry that is happening now.

The Sound and Poetry of Ireland's Housing Data

Join us on Tuesday 23 April 2024 in the Recital Hall at Technological University (TU) Dublin Conservatoire for the premiere of a new work - a sonic-poetic treatment of Ireland's housing data composed and performed in collaboration with David Bremner (piano) and Larissa O'Grady (violin). Produced and curated by David Bremner, and supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, this project has been in development over several months during which David, Larissa and I engaged in regular generative sessions where we gathered, sifted, discussed, and crunched vast amounts of data - numerical and linguistic - from a wide range of sources including the Central Statistics Office, Council meetings and Dáil sessions, public testimonies and media reports, The Central Bank, Global Property Guides, and more, on the causes and effects of the severe housing crisis in Ireland. 'Capital' at Irish Museum of Modern Art

On Saturday 5 September I will present a new long poem with title 'Capital' at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA). This is part of a programme of events for The People's Pavilion installation, a public outdoor space located on the museum's front lawn where people can meet safely in specially designed social distancing circles. From the event description: 'Capital' is a polyphonic poem composed of fragments of text from unattributed reviews of establishments on Talbot Street, publicly available on Google Maps. It has its roots in Makris’s longstanding interest in the shifts in language use, communication and identity brought about by digital media, and their implication on poetic discourse. The poem maps the street through the kind of public-private writing prevalent online (the reviews often stray into personal anecdote).
