Die Welt und das Schwimmbad, Berlin

On Sunday 2 September I'll be in Berlin to read at Die Welt und das Schwimmbad #3, the final event in this year's Tropez season.

Running for three months over the summer, Tropez is a space for art inside Berlin's public swimming pool Sommerbad Humboldthain, where artists, performers, musicians, authors and curators mingle with the pool's guests.

Die Welt und das Schwimmbad is a series of three events within the Tropez project that explore literary perspectives from local and international guest writers, curated by John Holten of Broken Dimanche Press.

Reading with me at Die Welt #3 are Coco Fitterman, a writer & curator born and based in New York City, and Rindon Johnson, an artist & writer living between Brooklyn and Berlin. My thanks to John Holten for the invitation.

The Mediated Self at The University of Stuttgart + a broadcast on HORADS 88.6

Last summer I travelled to Stuttgart on an invitation from Dr Jessica Bundschuh of the Department of English Literatures and Cultures at The University of Stuttgart, where over Friday 27 and Saturday 28 June 2025 I led a series of generative poetry workshop sessions in partnership with Cork-based poet Molly Twomey for around 60 participants composed of University students and 5th grade students from Dillmann Gymnasium. The title of our collaborative workshop project was 'The Mediated Self' and it consisted of three individually-led sessions each: mine focusing on sampling, collaborative writing, ekphrasis, collaging, and related poetics. My session 'Find a Pop Icon' in particular, spread over two days, was the source of much discussion, amusement, tumult and creative engagement from the students. Thomas Brezing's 'Carpet Man'

Almost Fit To Be Hugged , a short essay in which I discuss Thomas Brezing 's ongoing performance-based 'Carpet Man' project, is in the July/August 2013 issue of the Visual Artists' News Sheet (VAN) published by Visual Artists Ireland . Carpet Man himself makes an appearance on the front cover. Devised primarily as an information source for artists in Ireland, VAN is distributed free of charge to members of Visual Artists Ireland, and is also available from galleries and arts centres. * [Update 2/10/13] Almost Fit To Be Hugged   has now been archived on the VAI website.
