Reading at Maynooth University

This coming Wednesday 7 November I'll be reading in the Arts and Humanities Institute at Maynooth University (Room 1.33, 1st floor, Iontas Building) in an event introducing myself and Paul Lynch as Writers-in-Residence for 2018-19. We start at 4pm and the event is free and open to the public.

My poem 'New Year's Eve', from Spitting Out the Mother Tongue , was broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1 on Thursday 29 December, during the mid-morning show Today with Pat Kenny. It was part of a 25-minute section of poems and prose extracts on the themes of winter, Christmas and the New Year, compiled and presented by Niall McMonagle. A podcast of this section of the show is available on the RTÉ website (the introduction to my poem, read by actor Barry Barnes, starts at around 14:45).

New Course: writing as a reader / reading as a writer (Irish Writers Centre Academy)

This spring I will lead an 8-week course with title 'writing as a reader / reading as a writer.' The course is offered as part of the Irish Writers Centre Academy 's Spring 2026 programme.
