Listowel - New York International Residency Programme
I'm excited to be taking part in the Listowel - New York International Residency programme 2024-25, a unique two-part residency aiming to connect artists from the experimental theatre, dance, and performance scenes in Ireland and New York City.
I'm participating in this cool generative opportunity alongside six other artists operating in experimental performance modes and active in a range of artforms and locations: Anthony Keigher, Emily Davis, Gabriel Graves, Amanda Horowitz, Jane Deasy, and Hayley Stahl.
According to the residency spec, a showcase of work in progress is embedded into the Writers’ Week festival in Listowel which runs during the residency (this event has now been confirmed to take place on Saturday 1 June at 5.30pm in St John's Theatre), with a second opportunity to show work at the Irish Arts Center in New York in January 2025.
In Listowel we will additionally be joined by filmmaker, writer and director Tina Satter (also founder and artistic director of theatre company Half Straddle), and theatre director and playwright Richard Maxwell (also artistic director the New York City Players), who will be workshopping their own work during their stay, and with whom there will be an opportunity to engage in one-on-one development sessions.
In New York, the Irish Arts Center will provide a workspace, and in collaboration with First Irish Festival, Half Straddle and New York City Players will organise and host an opportunity to showcase new work.
Thanks to all supporting organisations (Irish Arts Center, St. John’s Theatre, New York City Players, Half Straddle, First Irish and Origin Theatre - and especially residency curator Dick Walsh & Noke Theatre). I look forward to connecting with all the other artists while developing and presenting new work in both locations.
